Formed in the mid-1970's by ex-Santana guitarist Neal Schon, Journey released three moderately successful jazz-influenced rock albums before hiring vocalist Steve Perry in 1977. That personnel change resulted in a musical shift towards a more pop oriented style, as immediately evidenced with Infinity and it's hit songs "Lights" and "Wheel In The Sky." The late '70s saw Journey become one of the most successful recording and touring acts in the U.S! Evolution and Departure were instant classics, each going instantly Platinum and yielding hits like "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" and "Any Way You Want It
