Manchester Buddhist Centre
July 17th 2008 01:27
The Manchester Buddhist Centre is dedicated to the application of Buddhist principles in contemporary society as part of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, an international movement founded in London in 1967 by Sangharakshita, an English Buddhist monk who had returned from twenty years of Buddhist practice and study in India.
You do not have to believe in Buddhism to visit the centre, in fact, many visitors come to the centre for the architecture and design of the building by skilled designers and artists (including Buddhist artists Chintamani and Sahaja) which has resulted in a true oasis amid the city.
