An exhibition to mark the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Halle Orchestra takes place at the Central Library in this special one-off collaboration.
This celebratory exhibition will explore the early days of Sir Charles Hallé's life in Manchester, the setting up of the world-famous orchestra and its continued evolution. Amongst the items on display will be a sculpture by the Irish artist, John Cassidy, who also produced the bust of Hallé that can be seen in The Bridgewater Hall. There will also be pictures from the Hallé's collections, letters, photographs and scores as well as treasures such as Sir Charles' baton.
