Engines at Work

Steam engine

The Power Hall at the Museum of Science and Industry houses the world's largest collection of working steam mill engines as well as gas, oil, hot air and diesel engines, demonstrated daily by experienced presenters.

This exhibition teaches you about the amazing history of power, from the early water wheel and the horse gin, through to vast horizontal steam engines. Also on show is the impressive 1907 McNaught engine, which powered Firgrove Mill.
