Castlefield is the UK's first designated Urban Heritage Park and boasts an eclectic mix of old and new - from offices, bars and galleries to the centrepiece of the district, the Roman Fort.
Walking to Castlefield through the St. John's Gardens or along Rochdale Canal is highly recommended. Enjoy the sights of the partly reconstructed original Roman Fort and the oldest railway station in the world with plenty of waterside places to eat and drink along the way.
Other highlights include boat trips and frequent events in the Outdoor Arena.
